UPS driver accidentally struck by a car in Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, NY (WABC) -- A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Monday morning on Hylan Boulevard in Midland Beach, Staten Island.

Just after 9 a.m., police say a 51-year-old male UPS driver was struck by a vehicle attempting to avoid a pedestrian. The driver was working at the time.

He was taken to Richmond University Hospital and then transferred to Bellevue Hospital.

The UPS worker is in critical but stable condition with a severe leg injury.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, and a police investigation is ongoing.
