STAMFORD (WABC) -- A vandalism spree in Connecticut left people in one neighborhood with thousands of dollars in damage.
More than a dozen residents on three streets in Stamford woke up to slashed tires over the weekend, and now, police want to find the suspects behind the crime.
It was an unexpected block party on the quiet cul-de-sac when all the residents realized that their cars had been collectively vandalized.
Authorities believe it was likely the work of kids out for mischief, but the end result was extensive and expensive.
Even three days later, the damage is still visible around the community, as many residents have so far been unable to change their flattened tires or fix their battered mailboxes.
"It really is nuts," resident Peter Vaccaro said. "It's definitely going to affect us, I mean the money itself, I think it cost us $750 because we had three cars that were affected."
The damage was found early Saturday morning after the suspect or suspects hit several cars parked in driveways and on the street on Stillwater Road and River Hill Drive, then cut through a backyard to reach more vehicles and driveways on Stanton Drive.
"It's private property, it's expensive," resident Pamela Koutrouvis said. "It's out of your pockets. The poor guy here was out over $1,000 out of his pocket for four tires. It's outrageous."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
