SOUTH PLAINFIELD (WABC) -- Police are warning homeowners to be vigilant as they investigate the third in a string of home invasion robberies in Middlesex County over the last 10 days.

The most recent incident happened Tuesday night in South Plainfield.

Police say suspects entered a home through a back door in the early evening and robbed the residents.

Two other home invasions occurred earlier this month in Old Bridge, in the Oakwood and Country Place sections. During the late evening hours, multiple suspects with handguns forced entry into the homes and demanded the residents provide cash and electronics.

In the first, children were in the home. A resident was injured in the second.

The suspects were described by the victims as two black males, one tall and one short.

Old Bridge Police Captain Robert Weiss, Jr., says authorities believe there is a strong possibility the crimes in both towns were committed by the same suspects.

The Old Bridge Police Department, the South Plainfield Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office are conducting an aggressive investigation into these crimes.

Anyone with information should contact the Middlesex County Crime Stoppers at (800) 939-9600. Tips can also be submitted online or by text.
