Woman killed, man charged with DWAI in Northampton fatal car accident

NORTHAMPTON, N.Y (WABC) -- A woman was killed Friday afternoon on Long Island in an apparent DWAI-related, three-car accident, police said.

According to the Southampton Town Police, around 2:20 p.m., a 2008 Toyota Scion was heading north on Lake Avenue when it crossed over the double yellow lines. It went into the southbound lane of traffic, sideswiped a GMC SUV, and then hit a 2009 White Nissan Altima, police said.

The driver of the Nissan, Courtney Pivirotto, 26, of Eastport, was pronounced dead on the scene. The two people who were in the GMC were uninjured.

Brandon McKee, 24, of Center Moriches, who was driving the Scion, was flown to Stony Brook Hospital for life threatening injuries. He is listed in critical condition. McKee was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.
