Woman shot in Stapleton section on Staten Island

STAPLETON, Staten Island (WABC) -- A woman was shot in the back outside a deli on Staten Island early Thursday.

The 23-year-old woman was shot at the intersection of Cedar and Broad streets in the Stapleton section around 12:15 a.m.

She was shot once in the back and taken to Richmond University Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.

A group of men reportedly fled following the shooting, and police are looking to talk to them.

No arrests were immediately made.
