NEW YORK (WABC) -- All NJ Transit rail service in and out of Penn Station has been restored after earlier suspensions.

Service was suspended after a fire on the Portal Bridge, which is owned and operated by Amtrak and takes train traffic over the Hackensack River between Kearny and Secaucus.

The suspension started at around 6:45 p.m.

Amtrak crews inspect the tracks for damage, and service was restored with delays of up to 45-60 minutes.

NJ Transit rail tickets and passes were honored on NJ Transit buses and PATH.
