NEW YORK (WABC) -- He's one of the biggest stars in his native France, and parts in big movies like "Fantastic Four" and Jurassic World" have started to earn Omar Sy recognition in Hollywood. If you don't yet know his name, you may well have already seen his work.
Opposite Chris Pratt as Owen, Omar Sy has a supporting role in the summer's biggest hit Jurassic World.
"For me, where I come from, just to be in it is just already a success for me, so I just try to enjoy that and just - life is beautiful," Sy said.
Omar's parents were immigrants to France from Senegal and he grew-up outside Paris.
"It's like the 'Beaulin.' Here the equivalent is the projects," he explained.
In a new movie he plays an immigrant fighting to stay in France.
The movie called simply "Samba" is from the same filmmakers who cast Omar as a home health care worker in "The Intouchables," one of the biggest hits ever to come out of France and like that one, The new film resonates far outside Sy's native country. In fact, with all the debate about immigration in the U.S. now, the story of this one man is very timely.
"We can't see it like a general issue. It's one person with his problem, and each person is different, and each person is a different story," Sy said.
And when he falls in love with a woman who is trying to help him, the story gets even more interesting.
Omar says he wants to continue to mix small movies with big ones and even though he's now working opposite Tom Hanks in a film directed by Ron Howard, He remains down-to-earth amidst so much recognition.
"It's a lot of love. And I like to be loved. So, I'm happy with that. I'm happy with that," Sy said.
Watching a film with sub-titles can be hard, but his work in "Samba" is so effective, I really recommend you seek out this film when it opens here in the city on Friday.
