WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Friends and family gathered Tuesday to say goodbye to a Brooklyn man who was among the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting.

Funeral services for Enrique L. Rios, Jr., 25, were held at the Greater Free Baptist Church in Brooklyn.

Church members say the loss is so great and describe Rios, Jr. as a gem.

"He was a good young man, attended the Bible Institute, very funny guy, very loving, the whole family. We're really going to miss him," said Lindra Ware, a church member.

Inside the church there was a celebration of his life.

He was one of five children and the oldest boy.

Despite the devastation his mother taught many a valuable lesson.

"I want the world to know, there is always room for forgiveness," she said.

The Williamsburg man was killed inside Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

He was in Florida for a friend's birthday party.

When bullet started suddenly flying, in the chaos, he was separated from his friends, and killed.

Many wore purple Tuesday night at his wake and funeral because it was his favorite color.

His family said that they were grateful for the emotional support.

Rios worked with seniors and lived with his grandmother in the housing complex where he grew up.
