Arrest made in broad-daylight Paterson shooting that left 1 dead, 1 wounded

PATERSON (WABC) -- Police have made an arrest in a deadly broad-daylight shooting in a residential neighborhood in Paterson.



The incident happened at the intersection of Fulton Street and Mercer Street in Paterson just before 10 a.m. Wednesday.



Upon arrival, officers located 33-year-old Dennis Gillespie, of Warwick, in a silver Honda Civic with an apparent fatal gunshot wound. A second victim, a woman, was also shot.



She was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.



A yellow tarp covered a car on the block where the shooting happened. An SUV with its doors open was also next to the car.



Authorities are investigating claims that the shooting happened during a drug transaction.



Police later arrested a 17-year-old male, who has been charged with murder.



The investigation is ongoing.
