Police searching for driver in deadly hit and run in Newark

NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police are investigating a deadly hit and run in Newark early Sunday.

A female crossing South Orange Avenue at about 1 a.m. was struck and killed by a car that kept on going.

Police spent hours at the scene looking for clues about the vehicle involved.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating.
