Woman struck and critically injured by van in Pelham Bay

PELHAM BAY, Bronx (WABC) -- A woman was hit by a van in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx.

It happened at 4:45 p.m. on Westchester Avenue, right underneath the elevated 6 train station.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition.

Police initially thought that there was a second vehicle involved that fled the scene.

After reviewing surveillance video, they found that the van was the only vehicle involved.

The driver of the van stayed at the scene.

The police investigation is ongoing.
