Person rescued from subway tracks at 6th Avenue, causing massive delays on L train

CHELSEA, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police said a woman was rescued after falling onto subway train tracks in Manhattan.

It happened after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday on the L train tracks at the 6th Avenue station in Chelsea.

Police said the victim, a 25-year-old woman, appeared to be intoxicated when she fell on to the tracks. She was reportedly unharmed, and the train did not hit her.

The MTA tweeted that she was safely removed.

She was taken to Bellevue Hospital for an evaluation.

Service between 8th Avenue in Manhattan and Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn was suspended but has been resumed. Commuters should expect extensive delays.
