NEW YORK (WABC) -- It can be a tough decision: What's for dinner? So wouldn't it be nice to have a personal chef?
Now you can and it won't break the bank.
There's a New York based company that is focused on making sure you get a luxurious, in-home cooking experience at an affordable price.
It involves set menus and a very efficient visit from a personal chef, who even cleans up.
Kim Donaldson looks rather relaxed minutes before she and her guests are sitting down to dinner.
That's because someone else is doing the cooking. "We are having roasted pan seared chicken and roasted root vegetables," said Nigel Calderon, a chef for Kitchensurfing.
The company makes the personal chef experience affordable and easy. Each day there are three menu options.
You choose one. Book by 3 in the afternoon, and a chef shows up that evening with all the food, pots and pans, for a family style meal prepared in record time.
The company says the chef does the shopping, the preparation, cooks the meal, cleans up and is out in 30 minutes.
The chef actually gets all the food at the Kitchensurfing commissary in Midtown. Everything is measured out accordingly, and because the recipes are so quick, chefs stop at multiple kitchens every night.
"We have three to four dinners or meals a night," said Calderon.
For the consumer, it's just about the easiest and most affordable way to throw a dinner party. It's $25 a person. and it's far more luxurious than ordering in.
"To have it actually made for you instead of in the paper bags and plastic containers is really nice," said one customer. "You know it will make you look good and you won't have to be cooking all afternoon."
All you have to do is set the table, eat and clear. The chef cleans the pots and pans and the cooking mess.
"A lot of people are very happy when we walk in. We come in, we cook, we clean, very simple process and they enjoy it," said Calderon.
Kitchensurfing's same day dinners are available in Manhattan, from 116th Street south, and there are plans to expand that geographic area.
