Toni Yates has the story.

FLEMINGTON, New Jersey (WABC) -- On New Year's Eve a home in Flemington, New Jersey, erupted in flames. Thankfully, it was equipped with ADT monitored protection.

Employees of the security company were able to alert The Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad immediately.

First responders were able to rescue the families three pets and treat them for smoke inhalation by using specially designed oxygen masks.

The dramatic video of the fire and rescue of the pets can be seen here:

The pets all survived, as did most of the family's belongings.

The family would like to thank the community, first responders and recognize ADT for their live-saving work.

Each year 500,000 pets are lost to fires in homes, many without monitored protection.
