SCOTCH PLAINS, New Jersey (WABC) -- A police officer in New Jersey was caught on camera coming to the aid of a frightened deer that had its head caught in a net.

Woodbridge officer Tim Majek, a resident of Scotch Plains, says his neighbor called him and asked for a hand freeing a deer that got its antlers tangled in fencing near his basketball court.

The officer took a knife and cut the deer loose.

It took off into the woods, then hit a tree and fell to the ground.

Majek followed behind it and removed the rest of the net from the deer's head.
