Rutgers student collapses, dies while playing basketball

NEW JERSEY (WABC) -- Rutgers University is mourning the sudden death of a freshman.

18-year-old Patrick Awosogoba of East Brunswick collapsed Sunday while playing basketball at a campus rec center.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate him with CPR and an electronic defibrillator, but were not able to.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

It's believed he died of natural causes.
