Poughkeepsie dog seen being abused on video found safe and sound

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A pooch from Poughkeepsie is safe and sound as police search for his abusive owner.

Gizmo, who appears to be a Maltese mix, was recovered from a home in Brooklyn Thursday.

Last month, a resident in Poughkeepsie shot cell phone video of Gizmo being beaten by a man in a park.

Police say the man is Gizmo's owner, Theophilus Burke, who's now wanted for animal cruelty.
