UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- The 59th annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade marched up Fifth Avenue in Manhattan as big crowds line the parade route.

Organizers say there were about 100,000 participants and 1.5 million spectators.

The parade route took marchers up Fifth Avenue, from 44th Street to 59th Street.

Actress Rosario Dawson was the parade queen, and New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony was the parade king.

This is the first time that WABC-TV is broadcasting the landmark family event. The four-hour Parade broadcast will air from Noon to 4:00 p.m.

Eyewitness News Anchor Joe Torres, David Novarro and reporter Carolina Leid are leading Channel 7's coverage of this year's event.

We'll also stream the parade live at abc7NY.
