Track and field coach charged with rape of teen in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON (WABC) -- A track and field coach from Mount Vernon has been charged with the rape of a then 13-year-old girl.

Samuel G. Davis is accused of having sexual relations with the girl, who is now 15, at more than one location around Mount Vernon.

Davis is affiliated with various track and field programs throughout the Bronx. He is a volunteer coach with the PSAL track team at the John F. Kennedy High School campus in Riverdale. This is allegedly where he met the victim.

Davis was arraigned in Mount Vernon City court on Friday on the charge of second degree rape. He is being held at Westchester County Jail with $1 million bond or $500,000 cash bail.

Devora Kaye, a spokesperson for the Department of Education released a statement saying, "this volunteer is not a DOE employee/ He will not be permitted to work with DOE schools in the future."
