Shirleen Allicot takes a look at how the 2nd Avenue subway is affecting rents on the Upper East Side.

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- It's one of the most important questions New Yorkers ask when they're looking for a new apartment: how close is the subway?

For tens of thousands in Manhattan, the answer will soon be: "very close."

The Second Avenue Subway is finally nearing completion.

One side effect is that rents on the Upper East Side, which are already expensive, are going up.
