12:03: Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim declared a snow emergency for Bridgeport as updated forecasts are calling for up to 8 inches of snow between mid-day and Saturday night. Parking is banned on all snow emergency routes in Bridgeport and is restricted to odd side of the street parking on all city streets until further notice to make a clear lane for city snow plows. 11:23: 170 pieces of snow removal equipment, 15,000 tons of salt prepared, vehicles ready
11:20 a.m.: Suffolk Cty exec Steve Bellone spoke with governor offered assistance with prep for snow. Monitoring continues.
11:01 a.m.: We are getting ready for the news conference in Suffolk County.
10:46: From the New York City Emergency Management Department, as of 10:15 a.m., heavier snow was moving in and travel conditions were quickly deteriorating. Snowfall rates of an inch per hour are likely through the afternoon.
