EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- There was a big holiday celebration to help boost the spirits of children and families evacuated to New York City from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Julia de Burgos Latino Cultural Center in East Harlem was filled with holiday decorations, face painting, music and a traditional island Christmas dinner.
Kids were also able to get their nails done and get their hair cut. Of course, organizers did not forget about the gifts.
The families in attendance are still trying to rebuild their lives following Hurricane Maria.
