Police find man accused in fatal hit-and-run in New Jersey by following fuel trail from scene to bar
Police investigating the accident followed a fuel trail from the scene of an accident to a bar -- and found the suspect's Jeep.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police have arrested and charged the man accused of leaving the scene of a crash that killed a New Jersey man on a motorcycle.

Police said 25-year-old Cory Holsten, of South Brunswick, died after the crash near Cranbury Road and Davidson Mill Road in South Brunswick around 8:50 p.m. Thursday.

Police investigating the accident followed a fuel trail from the scene of an accident to a bar -- Dock's Corner Tavern on Docks Corner Road in Jamesburg. Police said a 2004 Jeep Wrangler belonging to 57-year-old Peter Prete's vehicle was located in the bar's parking lot.

Prete, of Jamesburg, was later arrested at his home for allegedly hitting Holsten's motorcycle with his Jeep and fleeing the scene.

He was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash in the second degree in addition to various motor vehicle summonses.

An investigation is ongoing.
