New York Red Bulls beat Antigua; Pumas too much for W Connection FC

TheNew York Red Bullstook advantage of their home field in Harrison, New Jersey to ease to a 3-0 CONCACAF Champions League win overAntiguain the teams' Group F opener.



An Alejandro Galindo own goal got the visitors off on the wrong foot in the 14th minute and the problems were compounded eight minutes later when Sixto Betancourt was shown a red card for violent conduct.



With Antigua down to 10 men, the Red Bulls looked in total control and they found the goal to double the lead in the 62nd minute when Kemar Lawrence passed to Alex Muyl in the center of the box for New York's No. 19 to power home a shot to the upper-left corner.



With the game in hand for the hosts, Sacha Kljestan added a third for good measure in the 79th minute with an assist going to Gonzalo Veron.



Liga MX sidePumasgot off to a winning start in Group A beating Trinidad & Tobago club W Connection FC4-2.



Luis Quintana put the visitors in front in the 10th minute, blasting home to the top right corner from a difficult angle to make it 1-0.



Undaunted, the hosts levelled the score just ahead of the break whenHughton Hector was on target from a free kick with a right footed shot to the top left corner ofAlfredo Saldivar's goal.



But it was all Pumas in the second half as goals fromJose Van Rankin,Alfonso Nieto and Omar Islas earnedFrancisco Palencia's team all three points.
