NYCFC's Jack Harrison eligible to play after red card is rescinded

Jack Harrison will be able to play inNew York City FC's regular-season finale after the red card he received last weekend was rescinded.

Harrison's dismissal in Sunday's defeat to New England on Sunday was highly controversial, and an independent review panel has now removed Harrison's fine and one-game ban.

Harrison was sent off in the 26th minute for a two-footed challenge on the Revolution's Teal Bunbury, but the decision drew the ire of NYCFC boss PatrickVieira after the game.

"It was a ridiculous red card," Vieira said. "I see it again at halftime, I see it again after the game and I still don't understand the decision of the referees.

"He tried his best to have a good game, and I think his performance wasn't the best part of the game. Today, it was against us. The sending off changed the feel of the game."

The result left NYCFC with just a one-point lead in the race to finish in second place in the Eastern Conference, a spot which earns a first-round bye in the playoffs.

But NYCFC could finish as low as fifth if they lose to Columbus on Sunday, and Chicago avoids defeat while Atlanta wins.

Also on Tuesday, the MLS Disciplinary Committee finedSporting Kansas City midfielder Roger Espinoza an undisclosed amount for putting his hands on Houston midfielder Tomas Martinez on Sunday.
