CYPRESS HILLS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the neck and back during a robbery on a street in Brooklyn early Tuesday.

It happened around 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of Atlantic and Euclid avenues in the Cypress Hills section.

Police say an unknown man demanded property from the victim and stabbed him before grabbing his cell phone and fleeing on foot.

The boy was transported to Maimonides Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

He was with a friend at the time, 18-year-old Eliezer Aguilar, who said he got stabbed three times -- two on the head and minor cuts on the neck. Aguilar says the suspect tried to rob him as well.

"He looked like he was still strong, holding, but the only thing he was bothering about was his heart," Aguilar told the Post. "He kept saying, 'Yo, my heart, my heart, my heart."

Cops say the victim was stabbed in his neck and his right side.

He is expected to recover.

Investigators say the suspect fled on foot, wearing a green jacket and black jeans. A witness tells Eyewitness News that the attacker appears to be homeless and sleeps in a car.

A vehicle was seen being towed from the scene.

Neighbors say lately trouble has been brewing around the area.

"About two weeks ago a Saturday we were hanging out right here and guy a delivery guy coming down to bike screaming, 'Hey, help me help me,'" one resident said. "This guy is trying to rob me in a scooter."
