STATEN ISLAND (WABC) -- Eleven people, mostly children, were injured in a frightening accident on Staten Island Tuesday morning.

The crash involved three vehicles and happened on Harold Street and Gansevoort Boulevard in the Willowbrook section just after 7:40 a.m.

Of the 11 injured, an infant was seriously hurt and two others were rushed to Staten Island University Hospital North with non-life threatening injuries.

The other eight were taken to Richmond University Medical Center with minor injuries.

There may have been a school bus at the scene, but the accident primarily involved the three vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are looking into whether one of the drivers failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign.
