The Straphangers have named the best and worst subway lines in New York in its "State of the Subways" report card.

Each line gets its own rating annually, based on official transit performance measures.

According to the Straphangers, the No. 7 is the best line, and worst lines are the No. 5 and B subways.

The 7 ranked highest because of its frequency of service, subway car cleanliness, and also performed above average on delays caused by mechanical breakdowns and seat availability during rush hour. It performed below average on service regularity and car announcements. The 7 runs between Times Square and Flushing-Main Street in Queens.

The No. 5 had the worst regularity and was below average on delays caused by mechanical breakdowns and seat availability during rush hour. However, it tied for best in the system on car announcements and was near average on frequency of service and cleanliness. The 5 operates between Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College in Brooklyn and Eastchester-Dyre Avenue in the Bronx.

The B was below average on scheduled service, delays caused by mechanical breakdowns, and subway car announcements. The line was average on cleanliness, and above average on service regularity and seat availability. It operates between Brighton Beach in Brooklyn and 145th Street in Manhattan or Bedford Park Boulevard in the Bronx.
