Police: Yonkers teen girl accidentally shot by other teen, lies to cops

YONKERS, N.Y. (WABC) -- A 17-year-old girl was accidentally shot Tuesday afternoon by another teen in Yonkers, according to police.

Officers were called to a Bronx hospital, where a teenage girl had told doctors she was shot by an unknown suspect in Yonkers.

After investigating, officers learned she was one of two teenage girls who were playing with a gun inside a Chester Street apartment. The gun accidentally discharged and struck the victim in the stomach.

Omaiah Thompson, 17, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree assault.

Additional charges may be filed against both teens.

The injured teen was treated at Jacobi Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries and is listed in stable condition.
