Bicyclist killed after crashing into car in Holtsville, Suffolk County

HOLTSVILLE (WABC) -- A bicyclist is dead after colliding with a car in Suffolk County.

It happened at around 10 p.m. Friday on Express Drive South in Holtsville.

Police say Christopher Chizzoniti, 20, of Holbrook was driving a 2011 Hyundai eastbound on Express Drive South when his vehicle struck a bicyclist who was traveling in the right lane of traffic, west of Morris Avenue.

The bicyclist, whose identity is pending notification of family, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Chizzoniti was not injured and stayed on the scene. No tickets were issued.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
