Driver charged in Bronx hit and run that left bicyclist, 15, critically hurt

WOODLAWN (WABC) -- A driver is in custody, accused of leaving the scene after hitting a 15-year old bicyclist in the Bronx.

The collision occurred around 10:30 Saturday night at Jerome Avenue and East 223rd Street in the Woodlawn section.

The boy was critically injured, suffering a severe head injury, and taken to Jacobi Medical Center.

The driver, 37-year old Kabiru Mohammed of Mount Vernon, is charged with leaving the scene of the accident and may face additional charges pending further investigation, police say.
