HACKENSACK, New Jersey (WABC) -- Westbound lanes on I-80 in Hackensack were closed during the Friday morning commute as the cleanup continued from a crash involving fuel truck and Hyundai sedan.

The local lanes finally reopened nearly 12 hours after the accident. Express lanes remained closed.

The oil tanker struck a Hyundai sedan just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday near Exit 65 just north of Teterboro Airport.

The crash caused the tanker to overturn and spill fuel all over the highway.

Crews worked into the morning to remove the tanker and the fuel from the road.

The local and express lanes were closed while workers offloaded the fuel and righted the truck. In addition, express lanes on the east side of the highway also were closed.

Both drivers were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center and were in stable condition, State Police said.
