NEWARK (WABC) -- The temporary hold on all tracks at Newark Penn Station has been lifted after a track fire, meaning some trains are running again, albeit with heavy delays.

New Jersey Transit says they have 45-minute delays on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Raritan Valley Line.

Amtrak is telling its customers to expect residual delays.

There was a small fire on the tracks outside the station, and as a result, service was suspended between New York Penn Station in both directions.

There were no trains leaving New York City Penn Station, and trains south of Newark that were heading north were being held where they were.

The Newark Fire Department is on the scene.

Midtown Direct service was not affected.
