Not sure how to spend a summer day in the metro area? Join us for "Destination: Summer" and you'll come away with a complete list of activities from right here in the city to day trip excursions.
Hosted by Eyewitness News Meteorologist Amy Freeze, the show aired Saturday evening June 18th at 7 p.m. on WABC-TV and is available on ABC7NY.
There's truly something for everybody when it comes to enjoying this relaxed time of year. We'll explore a unique wooded area of Central Park that's open to the public after being closed for decades. If you prefer entertainment to nature, we'll tell you the best spots for outdoor movies on a summer evening after work.
For day trippers, we'll take you out by ferry to explore Governor's Island, a great bargain with lots of recreational activities for visitors. Then we hit the road up to the Catskills for a visit to a family resort, an Alpaca farm and other highlights in the area.
If you're a history buff, we have you covered. Come with us to Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay for a tour of Teddy Roosevelt's Summer White House and with the Hamilton frenzy in full swing we'll visit some of his NY historic sites plus check out a new exhibit celebrating the multi-faceted statesman.
