EAST TREMONT (WABC) -- Authorities have raised the reward to $22,500 for information leading to the capture of the suspect who raped a 12-year-old girl.

The girl was grabbed off the street and raped in the East Tremont section of the Bronx on Feb. 24. Police said the suspect walked up to her around 6:25 p.m., grabbed her arm and threatened to killed her.

She had been on her way home from school and was transferring from one bus to another.

The New York City Police Department is offering a $12,000 reward in the case, and now the city has added an offer of $10,000 while CrimeStoppers is offering $2,500.

Police have released video of the kidnapping. The man, in a blue hoodie, pretended he had a weapon and told the girl he would kill her if she screamed.

He then tried to take her into two different buildings before taking her to an alley and raping her. The victim fled with the suspect running in the opposite direction.

The suspect is a teenager in his early to mid-teens, who is 5 feet 2 inches tall.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
