VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (WABC) -- There is disturbing new video of a Long Island parking lot brawl that captured a mother viciously beating another woman over a parking spot while her husband and children watch.
The woman's husband can be heard heard egging her on.
Now, the two women involved in the fight in Valley Stream have been arrested.
The brawl apparently started because of an argument over a parking space at the Green Acres Mall, with 24-year-old Latoia Friday trying to park in an empty spot while a man was standing in it, holding it for someone else.
She parked in another spot, then got into an argument about what happened. That's when the punches and hair pulling started.
Police say Friday was the initial aggressor, hitting 35-year-old Twana Morel first. Morel is the one on top of Friday in the video.
"All this for a parking space, oh my God," shopper Chad Radway said. "That's crazy. Where's the mall cop? Why did nobody say stop?"
Shoppers can't believe people just watched and recorded the violent exchange.
"Kids watching and nobody even trying to stop it," shopper Larry Ellis said. "There's too much violence right now."
One shopper put things into perspective about the Long Island community and its residents.
"This is not representative of our entire culture," Sophia Buston said. "It is unfortunate that this is happening. No one has stepped in to stop it."
Both women suffered cuts to their heads and other minor injuries. They are charged with third-degree assault.
