Car slams into fire hydrant on Long Island
Crews worked to fix a geyser after a car hit a fire hydrant.

CENTER MORICHES, Suffolk County (WABC) -- A fire hydrant on Long Island, busted open during a crash, has been repaired but not before causing quite a mess in one Suffolk County neighborhood.

A car crashed into the hydrant at about 3:30 a.m. Friday in front of a home on Cynthia Lane in Center Moriches.

Crews were brought in to get the hydrant capped.

The water has receded and the mess has been cleared up.
