Cars, utility poles damaged after large tree falls in Staten Island neighborhood

WEST BRIGHTON (WABC) -- A large tree came crashing down in a Staten Island neighborhood Tuesday morning, crushing several unoccupied cars.

The incident happened around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Bard Avenue and Delafield Avenue in West Brighton.

The tree came down and landed on at least two unoccupied cars, taking downs power lines and utility poles with it.

No injuries were reported.

Con Edison is on scene and making repairs, but there are approximately 177 customers in the neighborhood without power.

Power will be restored as soon as repairs can be made.

The tree limbs took down five utility poles - three Con Ed and two telephone.

There is no immediate word on what caused the tree to come down.
