JAMAICA (WABC) -- A man wanted in connection with the death of his girlfriend has been found in Miami.

It was originally feared that Carlos Leon (aka Carlos Alvarado) had fled to Guatemala. He is now awaiting extradition, according to the Queens District Attorney's Office.

He had appeared in court in Miami on Oct. 21, and refused to waive extradition. The DA is now drafting a governor's warrant for his extradition.

Miriam Velez-Samayoa, 28, was found burned in a bathtub at an apartment in Jamaica, Queens, on Oct. 17. Leon, who was her boyfriend, is wanted in connection with her death.

Velez-Samayoa's former boss at the bodega where she worked said she had told him she would be leaving her job. Her mother was sick in Guatemala and she planned to stay there permanently. Her flight was scheduled to leave just hours after she died.
