EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are trying to figure out exactly what happened to one woman after they discovered her body lying next to a building in East Harlem on Saturday night.

Investigators are trying to determine how 33-year-old mother and Grandmother Yanina Boitel fell to her death from her building on 3rd Avenue and East 114th Street in the Johnson Houses.

Boitel's loved ones are adamant that she would have never jumped from her roof.

"Her thing was family. She has three kids and that's how everybody remembers her," said Rafael Serrata.

A source says police are talking to her boyfriend, who may have been the last one to see her alive. Eyewitness News is told they were fighting on the night she died. Relatives say she would occasionally have bruises on her face, and they feared for her safety - she would wear sunglasses so people would not see her.

The Medical Examiner is now working on the cause of death.
