YONKERS, New York (WABC) -- A Yonkers man has been charged with manslaughter, accused of driving over a 16-year-old young woman, killing her, while apparently targeting her boyfriend.

The incident happened on Wednesday morning at 9:40 in the vicinity of Nepperhan Avenue at Ashburton Avenue.

According to investigators, 22-year-old Joel Thompson of Yonkers got into a dispute at the scene with another young man, and then intentionally drove his vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Corolla, into his girlfriend.

She was pronounced dead at scene.

The victim was identified as 16-year-old Madysen Denman of Yonkers.

Police found the vehicle on Saw Mill River Road and detained the driver; he was taken into custody without incident and the vehicle was impounded as evidence.

Thompson was expected to be arraigned on manslaughter charges on Thursday.
