Friday's suspension started around 6:00 a.m. when overhead power issues resurfaced north of Metropark, which is where service problems originated on Thursday.
By 11:30 a.m., NJ Transit said rail service had resumed but with limited service in both directions and by 1 p.m., service was operating on or close to schedule.
However, just before 2 p.m. official announced that Morris and Essex line rail service was suspended between Broad Street and Dover due to overhead wire issues in Maplewood.

Amtrak trains were running with delays and speed restrictions between New York and Philadelphia. All Keystone trains were canceled between the two cities and were only operation between Philadelphia and Harrisburg.
It's the third time this week those wanting to catch a train out of Newark Penn Station had to just sit and wait.
"We've been stuck here for a while, since about 7:30 waiting for a train. Cancellations all morning long," Angie Cruz told Eyewitness News reporter Johny Fernandez.
They waited in a humid station as boards and screens had the dreaded words delayed or canceled.
Commuters here say they aren't surprised by the train glitches anymore. Instead of complaining, they just want a solution.
NJ Transit rail tickets and passes were being cross honored by NJ Transit bus, private carriers and PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken and Penn Station New York.
Updates to follow as more information becomes available.
