Angie Valverde said her mother was in labor at their home in New London when she ran to help.
Her mother couldn't get on the bed so she told her daughter to grab the baby.
"He fell and the head was like right here," Angie said.
Angie said she was relieved when the paramedics arrived.
New London firefighters honored the 6th grader's bravery during a ceremony at her school.
