Man killed when alleged drunk driver hits backhoe on Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A driver is facing DWI charges after a deadly crash involving a construction vehicle in the Bronx.

Police say an SUV was traveling northbound on the Bruckner Expressway in the vicinity of Exit 7C Sunday night when it struck a concrete barrier, went out of control and hit a backhoe.

Rescuers took four people to the hospital.

A passenger, 30-year-old Abe Prior of Norwalk, Connecticut, was killed.

Three other people remain in stable condition.

The driver of the SUV was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
