In fact, in Ringwood, a 27-square mile borough located in the Ramapo Mountains, bears are just about everywhere. Kathy Allen had some in her backyard just a few weeks ago.

"This wooded area, they definitely come here all the time, and there's a school just down the street, an elementary school, and they go through all the dumpsters out there," Allen said.
Police say homeowners should take down any netting they may have in their yard, because it can pose a big problem for bears.

"Sometimes they can die. They can get caught up and strangle themselves with the cord and stuff like that, because they do get frisky once they are entrapped," said Ringwood Police Chief Joseph Walker.
A frisky bear cam be a dangerous bear - even if you are an outdoorsman.
