NewsCopter 7 was over the scene on Castle Hill Avenue after the fire broke out around 2 p.m.
The fire started at 1103 Castle Avenue and then spread to the adjacent building at 1101 Castle Avenue, reaching the top floor.
Crews could be seen on the roof of the adjacent building working on the flames. The roof had a partial collapse.
A total of eight people were injured, including seven firefighters and one civilian. Officials say the injuries, all considered non-life threatening, are consistent with heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation.
The fire has been placed under control.
Red Cross provided emergency assistance to five households, including nine adults. The displaced residents will be able to connect with Red Cross caseworkers to assist in long-term recovery needs.
Investigators are trying to determine what started the fire.
