The dispute started between occupants of moving vehicles at East 163nd Street and Melrose Avenue when police say one car got too close to the victims.
They started exchanging words and a gunman shot from a white SUV at the other vehicle while on East 162nd Street.
The bullet entered through the back window and struck a 45-year-old rear passenger.
The passenger, identified as Aracellio Pellot, was pronounced dead.
The driver and front passenger were not struck.
The victims were traveling to a medical clinic at the time of the shooting.
The suspect vehicle, a white SUV with two people inside, got away southbound on Melrose Avenue.
No arrests were immediately made.
The incident happened just two blocks from the Bronx Criminal Courthouse.
Those who live and work nearby say they aren't surprised by the shooting.
"You go to work and stuff and then you got to worry about this stuff..then COVID..it's too much," one neighbor said.
