Earlier, just before 1 p.m. on East 187th Street in the Belmont section of the Bronx, 16-year-old Nisayah Sanchez was wounded in the chest and back of the head in a double shooting.

He died at St. Barnabas Hospital Thursday morning.

The other victim was a 23-year-old man shot in the left arm and right foot who transported himself to the hospital.

The preliminary investigation revealed that both victims were standing outside when two unidentified males exited a gray Honda Accord and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The third teen killed, 16-year-old Cahlil Pennington, was shot just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday outside the Fiorentino Plaza Houses in East New York, Brooklyn.

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea addressed the shootings on PIX Channel 11 News Thursday morning.

"That is the real crisis in New York City," he said. "My question is simple. How many kids have to die before we fix these laws?"

Shea focused on the Bronx double shooting that killed Sanchez, who already had three prior gun arrests.

"The 16-year-old that was killed in the Bronx yesterday has a rap sheet that is as long as my arm," Shea said. "We are not helping these kids by putting them back on the streets...How do you have a kid, a 16-year-old, arrested in months for three separate times for for guns. And I'm not talking about the times he was arrested for slashing people, or with a machete, or with a dagger, because those are all facts too."

Shea said the laws are encouraging people to carry guns because no one is being removed from the streets. Still, he insists police are taking more guns off the street than ever before.

Anyone with information in regard to any of the shootings is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
