Man arrested in group beating of man in NYC restaurant

FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A man has been arrested in the brutal beating of another man at a fast food spot in Brooklyn.

Kariem Roberts, 21, of Brooklyn, was charged with robbery, gang assault and menacing.

Police said the argument began when the victim offered to help pay for his attackers' meal. Two men pummeled the victim with their fists, and his own cane, inside a "Texas Chicken and Burgers" in Flatbush on March 1.

Police said two other men who walked in joined the attack, then a fifth man entered and appeared to rob the victim.
The 37-year-old victim suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises.

The NYPD is searching for other suspects. The investigation is still ongoing.
