DYKER HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A transformer explosion caused a power outage in a Brooklyn neighborhood Thursday night.

According to City Councilman Justin Brannan, the boundaries of the outages were 80th - 86th Streets between 7th Avenue and 12th Avenue.

He had already been calling on Con Edison to bury the power lines there.

"It's just an average February cold night and we have power lines coming down, what's going on?", said Brannon. "We've gotta do something about it."

Con Edison is investigating the cause of the explosion.
